The European Commission has launched a new call for eco-innovative projects.
funds made available for this year's edition is 35 million €.
According to the Environment Commissioner, Janez Potočnik, "this call for innovative projects is a huge opportunity given to Europe's entrepreneurial talent to present new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint."
in Brussels will be judged based on their ability to ensure environmental and economic benefits, to affect a large slice of the market potential and to contribute in terms of innovation.
The four maxi-areas on which to present their idea are: recycling, sustainable building products, food and conversion of companies to the eco-business.

A committee will evaluate the quality, the environmental and economic projects and will establish a European ranking.
The winners will receive funding up to a maximum of 50% of the cost of the project.
The expiry of the notice is attached to the September 9, 2010 at 17:00 hours Brussels.
Among the projects presented, the highest number came from Italy (133), followed by Spain (128) and France (53).
Among the winners, however, the Spaniards prevailed.
